KJ Counselling

About me...

I'm the youngest child from a large North Welsh family. Born in Leicester, 1971. London and Brighton have also previously been my home.

I've built over 25 years experience working within the public sector mostly with communities distanced from mainstream society.

I've travelled extensively by myself for work and pleasure and this remains my genuine true joy. Applied alongside some of my own challenging life experiences, my capacity to relate and empathise with the diverse needs of others is rich and developed. I believe in the restorative factors of big city living as much as the need for the healing calm of space and silence.

For a long time I've had interest in discovering more about myself and about how we function both as individuals and within societies. To understand more about we respond to adversity. This interest drove me to becoming a counsellor in 2015. My work now is motivated by goals of reducing stigma in talking about mental health and consequently, making talking therapies more accesssible to more people. I know that even simply having a safe and confidential space to open up about difficult thoughts and feelings can make a big difference to people's lives. My aim is to work alongside you to build strong and supportive personal foundations that will help you move through difficult times with increased personal insight and humanity and perhaps most importantly, with skills formed from your own unique needs. Such personal growth can provide the motivation to drive ahead in life with new awareness and resiliance to today's constantly changing challenges.
